Reminder: US-10 lane and ramp closures in Bay County start July 18

 

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin paving operations on westbound US-10 in Bay County. This work will require lane closures and shifting both directions of traffic to the eastbound side of US-10. Ramps closures at the US-10/I-75 interchange will also be required during this phase of construction.

This work is part of an overall $32.8 million investment to rebuild westbound US-10 from 7 Mile Road to Bay City. The project includes bridge maintenance at Three Mile Road, replacing a culvert at Culver Creek, and replacing the Mackinaw Road overpass in May 2024 with the addition of two roundabouts to mitigate congestion, and replacing the current traffic signals.

Traffic restrictions:
Beginning Tuesday, July 18, crews will shift westbound traffic to the eastbound side of the road, with one lane of traffic in each direction on eastbound US-10 between I-75 and 7 Mile Road. During this phase of construction, two ramps at the US-10/I-75 interchange will be closed through November:

• The southbound I-75 ramp to westbound US-10 will be closed and detoured via southbound I-75, M-84, and westbound US-10.
• The westbound US-10 to southbound I-75 ramp will also be detoured via M-13, M-84, and southbound I-75.

The Three Mile Road bridge remains closed for construction and is expected to reopen to traffic before the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly 397 jobs.

Safety benefit:
This project is intended to improve the pavement conditions of westbound US-10 and address important bridge repairs to ensure operations and safety of the road. This phase of detouring will allow the contractor to safely rebuild the westbound lanes of US-10.
