Update: M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) resurfacing project begins Wednesday from 14 Mile Road and Wellington Crescent

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be investing $22.6 million to resurface M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) between 14 Mile Road and Wellington Crescent in Macomb County.

The project includes resurfacing 3.3 miles of M-3 (Gratiot Avenue), along with concrete curb and gutter, drainage improvements, upgrades to sidewalks with American with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps, installation of new modernized traffic signals, signing replacements and pavement markings.

Update - beginning 7 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, northbound and southbound M-3 between 14 Mile Road and Wellington Crescent Boulevard will have two left lanes open and the two right lanes will be closed. Every effort will be made to maintain two lanes in each direction, as much as possible. There will be a northbound M-3 closure later this year from Remick Drive to Wellington Crescent. Once that part of the project is scheduled, the dates of the closure will be announced. This project is expected to be completed by late fall 2023.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 273 jobs.

MDOT will be coordinating with Clinton Township for the Gratiot Cruise scheduled for the first weekend in August.
