MDOT public meetings to discuss removing Spruce Street pedestrian bridge over M-10 in Detroit
Detroit, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting a virtual and in-person public meeting to discuss the proposed removal of the Spruce Street pedestrian bridge over M-10 in Detroit.

Project background:
The Spruce Street pedestrian bridge is a four-span steel pedestrian bridge built in 1953. Now 70 years old, the bridge is nearing the end of its service life and is currently closed. Due to deteriorated pavement conditions and its age, MDOT is proposing to remove the bridge. The nearest alternate crossing is approximately 600 feet to the north at Temple Street.
Survey:
MDOT is looking for input on the proposed bridge removal. Please participate by taking the survey here: Spruce Street Pedestrian Bridge Survey. Survey responses are anonymous.
Public input:
MDOT is currently seeking public input on the proposed bridge removal. Please provide your input by March 3, 2023. In addition to the virtual and public meetings, comments may also be submitted through the online comment form and to:
