MAJOR PROJECT UPDATE:

At midnight tonight, construction staff will begin closing I-496 between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (M-99) and the Grand River. Traffic will be detoured on St. Joseph Street (westbound) and Malcolm X Street (eastbound). Additionally, Grand Avenue between Malcolm X Street and St. Joseph Street will be closed and detoured. I-496 will remain open between I-96 and M-99 and between the Grand River and US-127. All local access off of St. Joseph Street and Malcolm X Street will remain open. This configuration will remain in place until October 2022.

I-496 Stage 2B

Eastbound I-496:

Traffic will be reduced to one lane west of M-99 and will be detoured to Malcolm X Street via the M-99 exit ramp and may return to I-496 east of Grand Avenue.

Westbound I-496:

Two lanes of traffic will be detoured to St. Joseph Street via the Grand Avenue exit ramp and may return to I-496 west of M-99.
