Stage change starting Sunday will be in place through late December...

Grand Haven- See maps and project info below. 

This Sunday northbound US-31 will be reduced to one lane just north of Waverly Avenue and traffic will continue to be crossed over to the southbound side between Jackson Street and 3rd Street.  During this stage, northbound US-31 traffic will NOT have access to M-104 and to 3rd Street. Traffic will be detoured north on US-31 to westbound Van Wagoner Street, southbound 174th Avenue/3rd Street and south on Pine Street to M-104. 

Eastbound and westbound M-104 will be reduced to one lane between US-31 and Rex/School Street. 

Alternate route:  M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive) to M-231 to M-104/I-96. 

  • NB US-31 access to and from Harbor Island Drive and Adams Street will be closed.
  • NON-MOTORIZED PATHWAYS

    • The pathway trails on the south side of the M-104 bridge and on the east side of the NB US-31 bascule bridge, are scheduled to reopen 11/3/21.

PROJECT DETAILS:

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will improve six bridges at the US-31/M-104 interchange in Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg. Work includes deck replacement, painting, steel repairs, joint replacement, deck patching, approach work, beam repair, and substructure improvements at the following locations:

 - The US-31 drawbridge over the Grand River,

 - US-31 (northbound and southbound) over the south channel of the Grand River,

 - US-31 over M-104,

 - US-31 over 3rd Street, and

 - M-104 over the Spring Lake Channel.
