The on ramp from eastbound M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive) to eastbound I-196 closes for construction 9 a.m. today (Wednesday) through October 31.
Lane closures remain in effect through October 31 on eastbound I-196 between Market Avenue and US-131.
The work is weather dependent.

I-196 bridge improvements begin in downtown

PROJECT DETAILS:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $9 million to improve 14 bridges, along with concrete joint repairs, asphalt resurfacing, and high-friction surface coating, on I-196 between Market Avenue and US-131.
Lane closures will be in effect for the duration of the project, as well as ramp closures at M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive), Lane Avenue and US-131. Intermittent weekend total closures will be in place one direction at a time. The first full closure is scheduled for 9 p.m. Friday, May 15, through 5 a.m. the following Monday on westbound I-196 between US-131 and Market Avenue.
