Lathrup Village project 696 service drive at Southfield Rd

LANE CLOSURES ON WESTBOUND I-696 SERVICE DRIVE AND EXIT RAMP TO SOUTHFIELD ROAD IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER
 
ROADWAY(S): Exit ramp from westbound I-696 to Southfield Road    I-696 service drive (Eleven Mile Road)    Southfield Road (northbound)
 
START DATE: September 3, 2019
 
END DATE:  October 12, 2019
 
TRAFFIC DETAILS:
 
Lane closures on the westbound service drive between Southfield Road and the WB I-696 offramp will be in place to allow concrete pavement and concrete curb repairs.  Two lanes of the service drive will remain open at all times to allow traffic onto Southfield Road.
 
One lane of the WB I-696 off-ramp will be closed from September 22, 2019 to October 12, 2019.
 
One lane of northbound Southfield Road will be closed when construction is taking place at the intersection between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
 
PROJECT DETAILS:
 
The City is pleased to have received the funding to repair this crucial section of roadway into the City.  The construction being performed in the fall of 2019 will be followed by asphalt resurfacing work in May 2020.
 
SAFETY BENEFITS:
 
The City understands the impact this type of work has on motorists and will work with the contractors to complete the construction as quickly and as safely as possible to get the job done.  The new road surface will improve safety and better driving surface.
