UPDATE- Total closure: WB I-96, Ionia County, August 16-17

PROJECT UPDATE- Westbound I-96 closes tonight, eastbound will remain open....

Westbound I-96 will close TONIGHT (Friday) from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. between the Eagle exit (#84) and the Grand River Avenue exit (#77). Traffic will be detoured on Grand River Avenue. Eastbound I-96 will remain open.  

No closures for tomorrow (Saturday) night. 

Nighttime closures for EB and WB I-96 will resume next Tuesday night, Wednesday night and Thursday night from 11pm to 5am. 

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $3.9 million to remove and replace the original Cutler Road bridge over I-96, and $5.5 million to repair and resurface 9.5 miles of I-96 from Sunfield Road to the Ionia/Clinton county line.

Cutler Road over I-96 remains closed and detoured for bridge replacement through mid-October.  Detour:  Cutler Road traffic will be detoured on Grand River Avenue, Peake Road and Monroe Avenue. 

The work is weather dependent.
