August 7, 2019 -- Weather permitting, Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) contract crews will be repairing pavement and placing bridge beams on I-94 in Detroit. This work will require closing westbound I-94 from I-75 to I-96 starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. All lanes of the freeway are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.

During this closure, westbound traffic will be detoured via southbound I-75 to westbound I-96, back to westbound I-94. The closure is needed to safely allow crews to resurface westbound I-94 from Second Avenue to I-96 and to set bridge beams over the westbound lanes at the Brush Street overpass.

Eastbound I-94 will remain open this weekend; however, crews will close the right and center lanes during the overnight hours from US-12 (Michigan Avenue) to Second Avenue in order to safely pave freeway ramps. The overnight lane closures begin nightly at 9 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. the following mornings, and are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 7 and Thursday, Aug. 8.
