US-23 reconstruction in East Tawas resumes May 6

PROJECT:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $10 million to reconstruct 5.7 miles of US-23 from north of East Tawas Beach Road to south of Kirkland Drive. The project, which was delayed last fall due to a contractor lockout, will be completed this spring.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS:
This work will require daytime single-lane closures with traffic shifts.
SAFETY FEATURES:
This project includes new pavement markings and rumble strips, as well as extension of a center left-turn lane to Aulerich Road.
