I-94 Project Update

March 19, 2019 – Work on the new eastbound I-94 bridge over the Grand River is continuing. The contractor will continue construction of the final substructure element needed for the new eastbound I-94 bridge over the Grand River, as well as continue work on the new bridge deck.

 

Along the eastbound I-94 Cooper Street off ramp, crews will continue mine grouting to fill voids below the I-94/ Cooper Street interchange throughout the coming weeks. Additionally, crews have started the removal process of the existing facilities within the closure limits of the Cooper Street interchange and will continue to place storm sewer throughout the week. Crews began additional tree clearing necessary for future construction activities. This additional work should wrap up this coming week. Placement of right of way fence along the project limits will continue.

 

Daytime shoulder closures and reduced speed zones along eastbound I-94 between Lansing Avenue and Elm Road near Cooper Street will remain in place to delineate the work zone. The eastbound I-94 Cooper Street off ramp remains closed until early-June.

 

ATTENTION: Cooper Street over I-94 is closed to accommodate interchange reconstruction. Cooper Street will remain closed between the I-94 WB and EB ramp terminals until mid-September. The Cooper Street on ramp to eastbound I-94 is also closed as part of the interchange reconstruction. Please follow the posted detour routes. The temporary signal at southbound US-127 and Parnall Road intersection is now active. This signal will remain active until Cooper Street is reopened this fall.
