 Aeronautics Commission honors MAAE executive director and State Transportation Director 

September 13, 2018 -- At its Sept. 12 meeting in Harbor Springs, the Michigan Aeronautics Commission (MAC) presented its Awards of Excellence to Shawn Jezak/Michigan Association of Airport Executives (MAAE) and State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle.

MAAE Executive Director Shawn Jezak was recognized for her outstanding contributions throughout the past 11 years. Her commitment has earned significant benefits for MAAE's membership. Jezak's dedicated efforts in the preparation and development of premier airport conferences and seminars held across the state have had a measurable and lasting effect on the airport industry throughout Michigan. The MAC thanks Jezak for her hard work.

With more than 31 years at the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and serving as its director since 2006, Kirk T. Steudle was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the aviation industry, having preserved the state's public-use airports to the highest standards. His dedication to customers, workforce, and stakeholders has resulted in significant positive outcomes for Michigan residents. The MAC applauds his unwavering support for the commission and activities of the MDOT Office of Aeronautics. His commitment to innovation and technology in providing mobility solutions ensures Michigan's aviation system will flourish into the future. Steudle will be presented with the award during the next MAC meeting scheduled in November.

Every year since 1990, the MAC has recognized individuals and organizations whose innovative contributions have led to significant improvements to facilities, operations or public relations that support aviation in Michigan. The MAC is responsible for the general supervision of aeronautics within Michigan.
