COUNTY:
Genesee

HIGHWAY:

M-57 Irish Road

CLOSEST CITY:

ESTIMATED DATE:

PROJECT:

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will add additional stop signs to the M-57 corridor, bringing the intersection of M-57 and Irish Road in Forest Township to a four-way stop. Work includes the addition of "stop ahead" signs, temporary rumble strips, and updating the overhead flashing signal to flashing red in all directions. Portable message boards will be placed on M-57 in advance of the new signs for several weeks to remind drivers of the new intersection configuration.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS:

Drivers can expect intermittent shoulder and single-lane closures through the day while additional traffic control devices are added to the intersection. Following the addition of the new signs, the intersection will immediately begin operating as a four-way stop.

SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS:

This work is expected to reduce the number of crashes at the intersection.
