Sault Ste. Marie MDOT car pool lot moving
October 30, 2017 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) carpool lot at I-75 and 3 Mile Road in Sault Ste. Marie is moving.
In cooperation with the Sault Ste. Marie Meijer store, MDOT will transfer operation of the carpool parking lot located at the northwest corner of the I-75/3 Mile Road intersection to the southeast corner of the Meijer parking lot. Parking stall locations are designated by carpool signs at the boundaries of the carpool parking area. The spaces are made available by a public-private partnership (P3) between MDOT and Meijer stores across Michigan.
The existing carpool lot will be closed for the winter on Nov. 10 and will remain permanently closed in the spring. The lot driveway will be left open temporarily with a sign posted reading: "Lot Closed – Use Meijer Lot." Motorists are asked to adjust their commuting routine to park in the newly designated carpool spots in the Meijer parking lot.
For more information, call MDOT’s Newberry Transportation Service Center at 906-293-5168.
