Safety benefits:

- MDOT began rebuilding 0.4 miles of M-99 (Superior Street) in Albion, Calhoun County, on April 17.

- Construction was staged in two phases. One phase is complete, and the second phase is expected to be completed in early December.

- Detours are posted for M-99 and I-94 Business Loop (Michigan Avenue).

October 16, 2017 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has completed the first of two stages of brick paving reconstruction on M-99 in Albion, Calhoun County. The section of M-99 between Ash Street and Cass Street was reopened over the weekend, and contractors will be adding the finishing touches this week, including pavement markings.

The remaining section, between Cass Street and Mulberry Street, is expected to reopen in early December. Originally scheduled for completion in early November, this portion of the reconstruction has been delayed by unplanned, additional utility work for the city.

The $4.3 million investment includes brick pavement reconstruction of M-99 from Vine Street to Ash Street, as well as sidewalk ramp upgrades, storm sewer upgrades, and water main replacement. The project also includes converting the roadway from four to three lanes.

The detour for M-99 includes Eaton Street and Irwin Avenue, and will be in effect throughout the entire project. The I-94 Business Loop (Michigan Avenue) detour includes Eaton Street, I-94, and Michigan Avenue, and will be in effect during phase two.
