Eastbound I-94 service drive repair project near Detroit Metro Airport starts Monday
COUNTY: Wayne
HIGHWAY: I-94 service drive
CLOSEST CITY: Romulus
START DATE: Monday, April 24, 2017 7 a.m.
COMPLETION DATE: Late May 2017
PROJECT DETAILS: This 1-mile, project involves replacing the concrete on the eastbound I-94 service drive, closing the section between Merriman Road and Middle Belt Road for repair. The exit to Merriman Road will remain open while the exit to Middle Belt Road will be closed. The Middle Belt Road ramp to eastbound I-94 will be open. The two Merriman Road ramps to eastbound I-94 will be closed. The eastbound I-94 freeway will have all three lanes open
To avoid delays, airport traffic can use I-275 to Eureka Road, south of I-94.
The closure between Merriman and Middle Belt roads will improve the safety of the work zone for construction workers and motorists alike. The closure also will reduce the duration of the project from three months to less than one month.
