The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has reopened most of I-94 Exit 88 at 40th Street in Charleston Township, Kalamazoo County, after almost four months of construction.

The newly opened portions are:

- The new 40th Street bridge over I-94.

- The new ramp from westbound I-94 to 40th Street.

- The new ramp from 40th Street to eastbound I-94.

- Michigan Avenue east and west of 40th Street.

The remaining work on the ramps from eastbound I-94 to 40th Street, and from 40th Street to westbound I-94, is expected to be completed by the end of September. Details are available on the Mi Drive website.

MDOT started the $12 million reconstruction in mid-April. Construction includes drainage improvements; sanitary sewer upgrades; new culverts, signs, and guardrail; concrete curb and gutter; removal of the I-94 bridge over Michigan Avenue; and construction of a new 40th Street bridge over I-94.
