Walker Wheels face Flint Lumberjacks June 1 at Walker Tavern
The Walker Wheels Base Ball Club will square off against the Flint Lumberjacks at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Walker Tavern Historic Site near Brooklyn, Michigan. The teams play 1860s-style, vintage "base ball" on the grounds of the historic stagecoach stop.
“This year marks our 8th season,” said Jim Terwilliger, a member of the Walker Wheels. “The team really appreciates a good crowd and the sponsorship of the Friends of Walker Tavern.”
Visitors are welcome to picnic on the grounds before the game. Dates and times for the rest of the team’s summer schedule are available at www.michigan.gov/walkertavern.
Walker Wheels' games are free and open to the public, though a Recreation Passport is required for a vehicle to enter Cambridge Junction Historic State Park (where Walker Tavern is located). For more information on the Recreation Passport, go to www.michigan.gov/recreationpassport. Nonresidents can purchase the Recreation Passport ($31 annual; $9 daily) at any state park or recreation area or (annual pass only) through the Michigan e-Store at www.michigan.gov/estore.
