Annual Belle Isle spring cleanup set for April 26
Hundreds of volunteers will roll up their sleeves to rake leaves and remove trash and debris from Belle Isle during the annual spring island cleanup event, held 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26.
Volunteers are asked to check in at 9 a.m. on the day of the event at the Belle Isle Casino. Volunteers should dress for the weather, wear work boots and gloves and, if possible, bring lawn rakes. Following cleanup activities, volunteers will be provided lunch (hot dogs, chips and drinks) at the casino.
This event, coordinated by the Belle Isle Conservancy in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources, provides an opportunity to participate in community service and contribute to the revitalization of Belle Isle. Certificates for earned community service credit will be awarded on site.
Interested participants should pre-register online. For more information about the cleanup event, Belle Isle or the Belle Isle Conservancy, visit www.belleisleconservancy.org. Information about the park can also be found at www.BelleIslePark.org.
The mission of the Belle Isle Conservancy is to protect, preserve, restore and enhance the natural environment, historic structures and unique character of Belle Isle as a public park for the enjoyment of all – now and forever.
