Mechanical problems lead to trail grooming delays in Munising area

The Munising Visitors Bureau – which partners with the Department of Natural Resources to groom snowmobile trails in the Munising area – has reported mechanical problems with the Bureau’s two grooming machines. Due to these operational setbacks, snowmobilers are advised that grooming may be delayed on area trails.

DNR trails staff are working with other snowmobile clubs that groom trails under state grant sponsorship to coordinate grooming of the Munising area trails until the grooming machines can be repaired.

“We appreciate the help of the Seney Snowmobile Association, Big Bay DeNoc Snowmobile Club and Schoolcraft County Motorized Trail Association in picking up some of the grooming needs,” said DNR recreation specialist Dan Moore. “Until the Munising Visitors Bureau’s grooming operations are back in full swing, snowmobilers should expect to see a delay in grooming of some area trails and plan accordingly.”

For Munising area trail status and conditions, contact DNR Shingleton fire officer Brett Bednarski at 906-452-6227 or Dan Moore at 906-293-5131.
