Explore the heavens at Michigan’s first dark sky preserve

Join us for an evening of star-gazing, planet-identifying, and constellation-finding at Michigan’s first Dark Sky Preserve at the Lake Hudson Recreation Area in Clayton on November 2 and 30. This informal gathering of astronomers will be setting up numerous telescopes and instructing on how to locate various celestial objects in the night sky. Make sure to bring any questions you may have about astronomy.

Children must be accompanied by an adult and the event is weather-dependent.

Camping

Celebrate our state’s biggest rivalry

This fall, fans don’t need to travel to East Lansing or Ann Arbor to celebrate our state’s ultimate collegiate rivalry for the University of Michigan vs. Michigan State football game! The Waterloo Recreation Area and Bay City Recreation Area campgrounds will be filled with fans the weekend of November 2 for football-themed activities, games, site decorating, and more! Bring your team’s colors and get ready for some friendly competition! Due to the late date of the game, campground amenities will be limited.
