Inland Lake Maps
There are more than 11,000 lakes in Michigan – and the DNR has maps for more than 2,500 of them! These maps can help with inland lake fishing efforts and highlight shore features, vegetation and other water body specifics. Inland Trout and Salmon Regulations Maps

Michigan Geographic Data Library
This website catalogs the available GIS (Geographic Information System) data the State of Michigan has available via the internet. Some areas of interest include Great Lakes shoreline, inland lake contours, and major watersheds. To access visit: www.mcgi.state.mi.us/mgdl/. 

Surface Water Information Management System

‘Beyond BOW’ salmon-fishing workshop for women available this September
Female fly anglers are encouraged to check out a special offering from the DNR’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program. On Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28, the DNR will host a “Beyond BOW” pink salmon-fishing workshop in the U.P. for women who have previous fly fishing experience and would like to expand on their abilities. 

The workshop will be held at the Carp River Campground, about 15 miles north of St. Ignace off I-75 and Mackinac Trail.

Participants are asked to bring their fly fishing equipment if they have it. A few rods will be available on site. Previous experience with fly fishing is required for this program. 

The fishing trip will include both days on the Carp River with instruction on several topics including equipment, knot refresher, casting skills, fly selection and, of course, fly fishing for pink salmon. 

The cost is $85 per person. No lodging and meals will be provided by BOW. Participants must be 18 or older. The deadline for registration is Friday, September 13.
