Lake Fenton boating access site in Genesee County
reopens for public use

The Department of Natural Resources today announced that the Lake Fenton boating access site in Genesee County has now reopened to the public seven days a week.

Jim Case, supervisor at Seven Lakes State Park in Holly, Mich., said the site has some minor projects yet to be completed, including tree planting, landscaping, housing for the primitive restroom, installation of a new bulletin board, and a new skid pier; however, none of these projects is expected to interfere with the boat launch operations.

The construction project included paving the driveways and parking lot, installation of an accessible sidewalk, and landscaping. The parking lot will include environmentally friendly, permeable pavement, and the landscaping will consist of native species and an eco-friendly rain garden that will absorb runoff before it reaches the lake.

This project was funded through the Michigan State Waterways Fund, a restricted fund derived from the collection of boat registration fees, a portion of the Michigan marine fuel tax and user fees. Waterways funding is dedicated to the acquisition, construction, operation and maintenance of recreational boating facilities.

For details or updates about this project, contact DNR Parks and Recreation Division unit supervisor, Jim Case, at 248-634-7271.
