DNR offers women's 'Beginning Handgun Shooting' class
in Linwood June 26

The Department of Natural Resources’ Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program will offer an Introduction to Handgun Shooting class in Linwood (near Bay City) on Tuesday, June 26, from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Hosted by Linwood Bay Sportsman’s Club and taught by certified, trained instructors, the class will begin by covering all the basics of handgun shooting and range safety. After firearm safety orientation, participants will shoot .22 LR handguns and have the opportunity to shoot larger calibers of handguns. All firearms, ammunition, and eye and ear protection will be provided.

This is not the class required by law to obtain a concealed pistol license, but is a great prerequisite course for those who are considering obtaining a CPL.

Cost per person is $25, and pre-registration is required.

Linwood-Bay Sportsman's Club is located at 1643 E. Linwood Road in Linwood. For driving directions or more information about the club, visit www.linwoodbaysportsmans.com.

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman helps women learn about and enjoy hunting, fishing, backpacking, shooting sports, canoeing and many other outdoor recreation activities. BOW specializes in beginners, but also offers a variety of programs that support a mix of skill levels. BOW is a noncompetitive program, designed to let each individual learn and gain confidence at her own pace. The program emphasizes the enjoyment, fun and camaraderie of outdoor activities, while sharing in one another's success. Learn more at www.michigan.gov/bow.
