Notice is hereby given that the Department of Natural Resources, on behalf of the State of Michigan by authority granted in Part 5 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, Public Act 451 of 1994, as amended, may offer the below described State-owned metallic mineral rights via a sealed-bid auction. This public notice and request for response is to aid in determining the level of public interest and type of leasing (i.e. public auction or direct lease), if approved by the DNR.
Land description: Arvon Township, Baraga County; Breen, Felch, Norway, Sagola and West Branch townships, Dickinson County; Marenisco and Wakefield townships, Gogebic County; Iron River Township, Iron County; Ely, Humboldt, Ishpeming, Powell and Republic townships, Marquette County; and Faithorn and Spalding townships, Menominee County. Responses: Parties with a legitimate interest in potentially leasing any of the above-described mineral rights for the purposes of metallic minerals extraction should submit a written response to the DNR no later than March 8, 2026, either via U.S. mail (Michigan DNR, Minerals Management Section, Finance and Operations Division, P.O. Box 30452, Lansing, MI 48909) or via email (DNR-LeaseManagement@Michigan.gov). Responses should include the company name and designated contact person, phone number, email, mailing address and a statement identifying the specific parcels of interest.
