Hunter with harvested deer.

Harvested a deer? Don’t forget to report it.

You can report your deer through the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app, your online eLicense account or by calling 517-284-9453.

Submit your report within 72 hours of the harvest or before you transfer the deer to someone else, including a processor or taxidermist. A paper kill tag is still required and must stay with the deer. If the head and body get separated, keep the tag with the head. Anyone who has a deer after the reporting window closes needs to be able to show the confirmation number.

These reports really do make a difference. They help us track harvest trends and guide deer management throughout the season.

Want a quick how-to? Check out the tagging and reporting video and the latest harvest numbers on the deer harvest reporting webpage.
