Honoring 16 fallen conservation officers

In recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15, conservation officers throughout the state will place flags at the gravesites of fallen conservation officers.

During 2022, a memorial was dedicated at the DNR's Ralph A. MacMullan Center in Roscommon, in honor of 16 fallen conservation officers who lost their lives because of an injury sustained while serving their communities.

Watch a short video to hear from the daughter of a fallen officer, and others about what the memorial signifies.

Today, more than 200 conservation officers serve Michigan as fully licensed state law enforcement officers, who provide natural resources protection, ensure recreational safety, and protect people through general law enforcement duties and lifesaving operations in the communities they serve.
