Save the date for virtual REC workshop

Innovation in wildland firefighting equipment is the mission of the Roscommon Equipment Center program at Michigan's Forest Fire Experiment Station. The REC provides fire agencies across the nation with equipment and project blueprints designed at its cutting-edge fabrication shop.

Join REC staff from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3 for a virtual workshop via Microsoft Teams. See examples of recent projects including a fire education game and new truck designs, and walk through the steps to submit a proposal for new firefighting equipment.

The no-cost, virtual workshop will include presentations on:

  • A short history of the Forest Fire Experiment Station.
  • Roscommon Equipment Center fire equipment projects.
  • New tools in air operations: The IGNIS drone.
  • REC fire prevention game for community events.
  • New straightbed transport upcycled from retired military equipment.
  • How to submit a project proposal.
