 2021 ParkScore ratings, a measure of access to outdoor spaces around the country, have been released by the Trust for Public Land. This data on parks and green spaces helps identify where these important resources are, and where they are needed. According to the report, 100 million people in the United States, including 28 million kids, don't have a park within a 10-minute walk from home. View the ParkScore for 100 U.S. cities.
 The 25th anniversary of a partnership between the DTE Energy Foundation, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and nonprofit ReLeaf Michigan continues a legacy of urban tree planting in Michigan communities through an annual grant program. A total of $95,000 is available in 1-to-1 matching grants of up to $4,000. Eligible organizations in DTE Energy’s service territory may apply by June 18.
 The International Society of Arboriculture annually commissions a scientific literature review focused on key areas in the fields of arboriculture and urban forestry. This year, literature reviews will be accepted on the following themes:
- Tree benefits and public awareness
- Plant health care
- Urban and community forestry
- Tree care and preservation
- Social dimensions

 The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy awarded 11 grants totaling over $4.7 million for watershed management projects that will benefit wetlands, lakes and streams. Each grant will reduce sediment, nutrients and other contaminants to help restore impaired water bodies and protect high-quality water bodies. See which communities received water quality grants.
 Grant proposals for tree planting projects are now being accepted by Consumers Energy in partnership with the Michigan Forestry and Park Association, Inc. The Community Street & Boulevard Tree Planting Program assists municipalities in Consumers Energy's service area with tree planting projects, bringing natural beauty and the benefits of trees to community streets.
