Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the museums, historic sites and archives that make up the Michigan History Center are on modified schedules for the summer 2021 season.
This brief guide provides a quick status of all our sites. Click on the site's name for more detailed visitor information, including specific rules and guidance related to slowing the spread of COVID-19 and protecting staff and visitors.
Thank you for your patience and for your ongoing support of our museums, historic sites and the Archives of Michigan. We hope to see you this summer!
The park grounds are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, May 1 through October 1, except on certain holidays and MIS race days.
The historic buildings will be open Wednesday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., from May 26 through August 6.

Straits State Park is open year-round. The Father Marquette National Memorial is open daily, from April 1 through Nov. 25, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., unless there is heavy snow. Water and restrooms are available from May 31 to September 5.

Fayette Historic State Park grounds are open year-round. The townsite will open on a varying schedule, typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or dusk, from May 14 through October 17.
The townsite museum store, located in the visitor center, is open daily May 14 through October 10.

Fort Wilkins Historic State Park grounds are open year round. Historic Fort Wilkins is open daily, 8:30 a.m. to dusk, from May 17 through October 17.
The Copper Harbor Lighthouse is expected to open for limited tours this summer. Lighthouse visitor information is forthcoming. Please visit the website later this month for more information.

The heritage center is currently open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
From May 30 through October 9, the center will be open daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 7 p.m. in July and August.

Hartwick Pines State Park is open year-round. The logging museum will open daily on a varying schedule, typically 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., from May 1 through October 31.

North Higgins Lake State Park is open year-round. The Higgins Lake Nursery and CCC Museum will be open Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., from May 28 to September 5.

The Michigan History Museum in Lansing will remain closed to the public at least through July 12, 2021.

The Michigan Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee will be open Wednesdays through Sundays, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning June 2.

Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park grounds are open year-round. The enclosure that protects the petroglyphs is open from May 28 through September 5, and entry to the enclosure is available only by guided tour, free of charge.
Guided tours are offered every half hour Wednesdays through Sundays, with the first tour at 9 a.m. and the last tour at 4:30 p.m. Please see website for detailed tour information.
