DNR announces expanded methods of take for 2021 deer season
Michigan deer hunters have reason to celebrate as new hunting methods have been approved for the 2021 deer hunting seasons. New methods of take include the cardboard box and stick and rope combo, as well as hAir bows.
Richard Rollins, Hunting Method Specialist Grand Poo-bah Extraordinaire for the Michigan DNR, hailed the expanded methods of take as a huge success that was many years in the making. "I've been working for the last decade with our great partners at the Johnson Oswald Kingston International Nortward Group to finally get these regulations approved, which open up a whole new world of opportunities for Michigan hunters this fall."

One of the expansions looked forward to most by hunters this year, is the addition of hAir bows as a method of take. "Hunters have long been asking me if they can use hAir bows to hunt deer, and until this year the answer has always been, 'no,'" Rollins said. "Now hunters can put that old cardboard refrigerator box to use that has been sitting in the garage for their initial capture, and then finish out their harvest by utilizing the hAir bow. Of course, they can skip the box and use the hAir bow only, which is a matter we leave up to hunter preference."

All recent deer hunting regulation changes and legitimate hunting methods for deer will be available in the 2021 Michigan Hunting Digest, which will be available sometime this summer at Michigan.gov/Deer.
