Important Bird Area Winter Waterfowl Count

Join MI Birds and volunteers as we count overwintering waterfowl along the Detroit River as part of this international community science bird count with Bird Studies Canada and our partners, Detroit Audubon.

Owl Prowl

Proud Lake State Recreation Area in Commerce Township

Join MI Birds and partners at the DNR and Detroit Audubon for this family-friendly event as we learn about owl adaptations before searching for owls at Proud Lake. Hot cocoa, tea and s’mores provided.

Belle Isle Nature Center in Detroit
Saturday, Feb. 15, 9 a.m.-noon 

Join MI Birds for this guided birding tour of Belle Isle. We will caravan in our cars and visit several points to view birds along the Detroit River as part of this global community science bird count.

Wood duck nest box installation

Shiawassee River State Game Area in St. Charles
Saturday, Feb. 29, 9 a.m.-noon 

Join MI Birds, the DNR and  Michigan United Conservation Clubs at Shiawassee River State Game Area to install wood duck nest boxes and clean out used nest boxes in preparation of spring at this Important Bird Area. Free lunch and T-shirts provided by MUCC.
