ORV riding on trail

Free ride! Michigan's ORV trails free this weekend

Michigan residents and out-of-state visitors looking for adventure on their off-road vehicles can explore for free Aug. 17-18, 2019. No ORV license or trail permit is required during these two days; however, all ORV rules and laws still apply.

During the weekend, you can ride 3,700 miles of DNR-designated routes and trails, plus the state's five scramble areas:

  • St. Helen’s Motorsport Area (St. Helen).
  • Black Lake Scramble Area (Cheboygan).
  • Silver Lake State Park (Mears).
  • Bull Gap (near Mio).
  • The Mounds (Genesee County).

The Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to state parks, boating access sites, trailheads and other areas where applicable, such as scramble areas.
