Steve Wyckoff of Greenville was presented with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Partners in Conservation Award at last Thursday’s Natural Resources Commission meeting.

“Steve has a reputation for volunteering his time to work with partners on a variety of issues like habitat conservation and public land access,” said DNR Wildlife Division Chief Russ Mason. “He has also shown abundant generosity when introducing people to the outdoors through sharing his knowledge, property and even space in his duck blind.”

Wyckoff has played an active role in conserving Michigan’s natural resources for more than 40 years, including as the state policy chairman for Michigan Ducks Unlimited for the past 10 years.

He also has volunteered with Michigan United Conservation Clubs and served on the Citizens Waterfowl Advisory Committee, the board of the Montcalm County Conservation District, the Greenville Public School Board, the Michigan Conservation Coalition and the Michigan Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus Advisory Council.

“Steve’s long-term commitment and efforts have left our natural resources in better shape, and his work will leave a legacy for many generations to come,” Mason said.

DNR Partners in Conservation Awards are given six times a year to individuals or organizations for exemplary contributions to conservation in Michigan. Award nominations are made by DNR staff members.
