The Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park invite you to celebrate 100 years of Michigan State Parks with a free family-friendly event on Wednesday, August 7, from noon to 4 p.m. under the tent on the Lighthouse Lawn.
Free lighthouse tours will run from Noon - 4 p.m. Take the opportunity for a self-guided tour, including a trip up the tower to the lantern room, where you can view the entire area – Tawas Bay, Lake Huron and Tawas Point.
All afternoon, the Friends will be on hand to collect your favorite stories of Tawas Point State Park to include in the state parks centennial memory map!
Did someone say FREE ice cream floats, too? The Friends will also be supplying these delicious treats, while supplies last.
At 4 p.m. Tawas-native and award-winning watercolor artist, Mary Lou Peters, will be available for a special meet and greet and autograph session on the lighthouse lawn, showing off special lighthouse notecards she designed and donated to the Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park for a unique fundraiser.
For more information, contact Vicki Seltz Barnes with the Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park at 989-312-0886.
Please note that the celebration event is free, but a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Tawas Point State Park.
