Michigan Wildlife Council seeking proposals for marketing and advertising services
The State of Michigan is requesting proposals on behalf of the Michigan Wildlife Council for a hunting and fishing educational media campaign. The estimated budget of $4.8 million - contingent on hunting and fishing license sales - will span three years, with a fixed annual budget of about $1.6 million.
The three-year campaign, beginning June 2020, will promote the essential role that sportsmen and sportswomen play in furthering wildlife conservation and inform the general public about hunting and fishing.
The campaign will focus on Michigan residents who don’t hunt and fish but aren’t opposed to these activities – about 80% of the state’s adult population. The chosen vendor will develop, implement and manage the media-based public information campaign to inform this target audience.

The Michigan Wildlife Council was created in 2014 by the Legislature to oversee the expenditures from the Michigan Wildlife Management Public Education fund, derived from a $1 surcharge on all Michigan hunting base licenses and fishing licenses. The nine members of the council are appointed by the governor. The council is entrusted with educating the public about the importance of wildlife conservation and its role in preserving Michigan’s great outdoor heritage for future generations.
