Join us at the Michigan History Center for a FREE, family-friendly event that celebrates the real stories of Michigan.
Say Yes to Michigan Day takes place on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m.
Our museum volunteers have spent the last year developing costumes and activities that tell Michigan's stories, and they can't wait to meet you! You can make 1920s paper dolls, meet a lumberjack, paint a pet rock, join a lesson in our 19th century one-room schoolhouse, participate in a scavenger hunt, enter drawings for hourly giveaways and MUCH more.
This year's event also celebrates 100 years of Michigan State Parks! Founded on May 12, 1919, the Michigan State Park Commission is now the Parks and Recreation Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. At Say Yes to Michigan Day, you can join the centennial celebration by finding Michigan wildlife during an indoor nature walk, taking a virtual reality trip to a state park and viewing the museum's new exhibit about the history of our state parks.

We are also pleased to partner with Mullin Entertainment, who developed three new puppets for the event!
Based on Michigan state symbols, Rusty the Robin, Elwood the Eastern White Pine and Pebbleena Petoskey Stone are sure to put a Michi-grin on everyone's face!
If you get hungry during the day, our Snack Shop will be OPEN and selling traditional and Michigan-made food. You can even purchase a bottle of famous Walker Tavern Root Beer, made especially by Frankenmuth Brewery for our favorite historic tavern!
Free admission to this event is made possible by Michiganology™. Each purchase from Michiganology.com supports free public event days like this one at the Michigan History Center.
