Straits State Harbor Harbor (Cheboygan County) is expanding boating opportunities for the 2019 boating season. A total of 15 seasonal slips will be available May 15 through Sept. 30 through a lottery-style drawing.
The new program, which is part of a pilot, is open to recreational boaters with vessels up to 44 feet in length. Commercial slips are not permitted. Seasonal slip fees are:
- 8 slips available for vessels 1 to 30 feet for $2,580.
- 5 slips available for vessels 31 to 38 feet for $3,420.
- 2 slips available for vessels 39 to 44 feet for $4,136.
A lottery-style drawing will be used to select slip holders for each slip size. A waiting list will be established with those not selected for a slip. To be put into the drawing, you must complete an online application by March 15, 2019 at 5 p.m. The drawing will take place the week of March 18-22. Notifications for either a slip offer or the waiting list will be sent beginning April 1, 2019. The deadline to accept a seasonal slip is May 1.
