Just as the new school year begins to settle in for the long haul, families have one more weekend to enjoy history, food and fun at Cambridge Junction Historic State Park near Brooklyn, Michigan. Halloween fun, museum tours and farm-to-home grocery shopping all take place October 6 and 7.

On Saturday, October 6, ghosts, goblins and witches have some spooky fun planned for kids 17 and under at Halloween Fest from noon to 2 p.m. Wear your favorite family-friendly Halloween costume, paint a pumpkin, make a seasonal craft and take it home. The Friends of Walker Tavern, who are sponsoring the event, will also provide free cider and donuts! The event takes place at the Hewitt House Visitors Center.

Then, on Sunday, October 7, final Walker Tavern Farmers Market takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “This will be your last chance to purchase your Halloween pumpkin and many harvest fruits and vegetables from your favorite Farmers Market vendors," said Laurie Perkins, site historian. "It's also a good time to order that special pie for the family's Thanksgiving dinner.”

Historic buildings at Cambridge Junction Historic State Park will be open for tours 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 6 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 7. The grounds include a walking trail that will be available both days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
