Scholarship opportunity for Riley Wilderness Youth Camp
Each year, MUCC sponsors the Michigan Out-of-Doors Youth
Camp at the Cedar Lake Outdoor Center in Chelsea. For more than seven decades, MOOD
Youth Camp has engaged campers in Michigan’s natural resources, taught outdoor technical skills and helped children develop a passion for
conservation. In all, we have had the opportunity to instill the importance of
the outdoors in 58,000 young people.
As a partnership with the Riley Wilderness Youth Camp, sponsored
by SCI-Novi with a generous donation from the Riley Foundation, children are
given the opportunity to learn more about hunting, conservation and environmental
sciences and even obtain their hunter safety certificates.
The goal of the Riley Wilderness Youth Camp is to provide the
opportunity for 80 boys and girls to connect with nature and to learn about natural resources and conservation. Riley Wilderness youth are provided with a full scholarship to attend one of two
sessions of camp, depending upon their age:
- Junior
Camp, July 22-27, for ages 9-11
- Advanced
camp, July 29-Aug. 3, for ages 12-14
Each camp focuses on a sampling of outdoor
activities, ranging from archery and canoeing to fishing and hunter safety.
These scholarships are available to youth who are
interested in connecting and learning more about the outdoors, and all are
encouraged to apply. For more information about scholarship
criteria and an application, visit www.scinovi.com/rwyc.html.
