The Michigan Water Strategy, released in October 2016, sets out a collaborative 30-year vision for the protection, restoration and sustainable management of Michigan’s water resources.

The Office of the Great Lakes released a report highlighting 2017 work by state agencies and partners to achieve Water Strategy goals.

The report tracks five priority measures including efforts to prevent aquatic invasive species, expand Michigan's water trails system, ensure clean and safe drinking water, invest in harbors and reduce occurrences of harmful algal blooms in the western Lake Erie basin.

"Shared dedication and commitment to healthy waters drove progress forward in 2017. There’s more to be done, and we’re looking forward to continuing our work to protect and restore the Great Lakes," said OGL Director Jon W. Allan.
