Please join the Green Ribbon Initiative for a special workshop introducing the new Oak Openings Region Invasive Species Strategy.  For the past two years the Green Ribbon Initiative has been working with a master’s student from the University of Toledo to develop a strategy that is specific to our geography and current ecological conditions and takes into consideration the unique nuances of Oak Openings natural communities.  The workshop will cover key components of the strategy including:

  • Invasive plant assessment protocol
  • Decision-support tools for land managers
  • Vectors and pathways of spread and distribution
  • Communication and alert networks, and
  • Invasive species mapping with the Midwest Invasive Species Information Network

Please note that the workshop is applicable for all conservation staff, volunteers, and citizen scientists that work in the Oak Openings and want to be aware of specific threats of Oak Openings invasive species.
