DNR announces completion of repairs on Burns Road in Midland County

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today reported that repair work on a 2-mile section of Burns Road in Midland County is complete. This section of road had been closed after heavy summer rains washed out portions of it. The area on the corner of Burns Road and Lake Sanford Road, 3 miles north of U.S. 10 in Jerome Township, now is open for use.

"This generally is a highly traveled route for hunters, ORV users and other outdoor recreationists," said Patrick Mohney, DNR unit manager for the Gladwin State Forest. "We're glad to see the work completed and the road reopened prior to the Nov. 15 deer firearm opener."

Questions about the road repairs may be directed to Mohney at mohneyp@michigan.gov or 989-426-9205, ext. 7640.

Updates on other closures and trail detours in DNR facilities, including state trails, boat launches, parks and campgrounds, can be found at www.michigan.gov/dnrclosures.
