DNR Echo Point shooting range to close Oct. 17-18 for survey work
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Echo Point shooting range, within the Allegan State Game Area in Allegan County, will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 17, and Wednesday, Oct. 18, to allow DNR crews to complete a boundary survey of the range.
A popular location for sighting in firearms for hunting season and practicing firearm skills, the Echo Point shooting range is in need of improvements.
The survey work is the first step in the DNR’s plans for improving the shooting range. Following completion of the survey, the DNR will work with design professionals to map out improvements, which may include accessible parking and pathways, new benches and structures for range users, and sound abatement at Echo Point in spring 2018.
Funding from a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant, as well as a grant from the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act through the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, makes these improvements possible.
The Echo Point shooting range is located at 3682 Monroe Road in Allegan, Michigan.
