DNR Youth Field Day at Maple River State Game Area Sept. 9

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources invites young people and their families to join in the fun at the free DNR Youth Field Day Saturday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maple River State Game Area in Gratiot County (9858 S. Crapo Road in Ashley, Michigan). Part of the youth waterfowl hunting weekend, this event is sponsored by The Grand River Chapter of the Michigan Duck Hunters Association and Consumers Energy.

Participants can learn about waterfowl habitat, hunting ducks in Michigan, duck calling, cleaning and cooking waterfowl, firearm safety and more. There also will be decoy, shooting and retriever demonstrations.

Snacks and refreshments will be available, as well as great prizes, including a youth shotgun.
