All are invited to attend the Lake Effect Chapter of Michigan Duck Hunters Association’s Youth Waterfowl Day Saturday, Aug. 26. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Muskegon State Game Area headquarters, located at 7600 Messinger Road in Twin Lake, Michigan.

This event offers an opportunity for families and kids of all ages to learn about waterfowl identification and biology, hunting techniques, retrieving dogs, and the traditions of waterfowl hunting and management.

Activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch provided at noon, along with a drawing for prizes.

Activities include wood duck nest box building, a duck and goose calling competition for kids, waterfowl identification, trapping, decoy carving, a chance to shoot at clay targets, and watching hunting dogs in action. There also will be opportunities to speak with area hunters and DNR Wildlife Division staff about local hunting opportunities.
