Mackinac Bridge to close to vehicle traffic Labor Day morning for annual bridge walk

Mackinac Bridge

If your travel plans include crossing the Mighty Mac on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 4), please note that the bridge will be closed to public vehicle traffic from 6:30 a.m. to noon for the 2017 Annual Bridge Walk. The brief closure is for the safety and security of walk participants, based on recommendations from Michigan State Police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Want to make the best of your extra time? Explore one of many fabulous destinations in the Upper Peninsula, including Fayette Historic State Park (a historic townsite), Palms Book State Park (home of Kitch-iti-kipi, Michigan’s largest natural freshwater spring) or St. Ignace, to name just a few.

If you are traveling northbound to the bridge, there are countless things to do in the Tip of the Mitt, including exploring Mackinac City, hiking the North County Trail or taking in Ocqueoc Falls, the largest waterfall in the Lower Peninsula.
