Classic car show returns to Walker Tavern Historic Site Aug. 6
Since the first decades of the 20th century, automobile travelers have enjoyed touring Michigan's Irish Hills region, often stopping at Walker Tavern Historic Site near Brooklyn. Now, Walker Tavern Historic Site celebrates the cars of the great era of automobile travel with its annual classic car show, "Walker On Wheels," taking place Sunday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free for those not showing a vintage vehicle.
"The car show is one of our most anticipated events," said Walker Tavern Historic Site historian Laurie Perkins. "Visitors admire the classic cars and enjoy hearing about the vehicles from the owners, there are tours of our historic buildings, and our farmers market is open. It's quite a fun-filled day for the entire family."
Owners of cars or trucks older than 1967 can show off their vintage vehicles and compete for prizes at Walker On Wheels. Registration is $20 and begins at 9 a.m.; the first 50 vehicles receive commemorative dash plaques. A registration form is available on the Walker On Wheels webpage.
Walker On Wheels is sponsored by the Friends of Walker Tavern and Oh! These Irish Hills.
