Acoustic Strings kicks off 2017 Picnic on the Lawn concert series at Walker Tavern Historic Site June 8
Local bluegrass/gospel group Acoustic Strings promises to fill the summer air with music Thursday, June 8, as it kicks off the 2017 Picnic on the Lawn concert series at Walker Tavern Historic Site near Brooklyn, Michigan. Weather permitting, the concert runs 6 to 8 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Acoustic Strings features the musical talents of Gary and Maggie Bilby and Mike and Sue Gleason. Playing a crowd-pleasing mix of original tunes and old favorites, the group is returning for a fifth appearance at the Picnic on the Lawn concert series.
"Come and watch the sun set in one of Michigan’s most beautiful historic state parks,” said site historian Laurie Perkins. “Bring a friend, bring a picnic and listen to some great music."
This year’s Picnic on the Lawn concert series also includes performances by The Country Playboys July 13 and Whoa, Nelly! Aug. 10. The concert series is sponsored by the Friends of Walker Tavern. Admission to the performance is free.
