Sterling State Park - Stewardship Volunteer Workday

Hi all,
Mark your calendars! We will be having two springtime stewardship workdays at Sterling State Park to pull invasive garlic mustard. We could really use your help and hope you can join us:

Wednesday, May 3, 2017
Sterling State Park, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

AND

Saturday, May 6, 2017
Sterling State Park, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Join Brittany S., the River Raisin Institute and the Stewardship Network Western Lake Erie Cluster to pull invasive garlic mustard plants. Everyone is welcome! Meet at the first parking, lot past the entrance booths (on the right). GPS coordinates: 41.919689, -83.3382 Call Brittany at 734-301-6803 for more information or weather cancellations.

A workday reminder will be sent about a week before the workdays, but we wanted to give you a heads up. For more information and to register visit our Calendar of Volunteer Stewardship Workdays.

Please remember to wear appropriate clothing for outdoor work including long pants and closed-toe shoes and to bring drinking water! We will have work gloves, but feel free to bring your own if you have them.

To make sure the workday hasn't been canceled due to inclement weather or for any other reason, please call 517-719-2285 the morning of the workday. You will either talk to me directly or listen to the outgoing voice mail message. If the workday has been canceled, a message saying so will be posted at least 2 hours before the start of a workday. If there is no cancellation message, the workday will continue as planned.

If you need to contact the workday leader with "day of" questions, please call Brittany at 734-301-6803. Hope you enjoy the workdays,
Laurel

Please support Michigan's state parks and recreation areas by purchasing Michigan’s $11 Recreation Passport. The Recreation Passport gets you into all state parks, state recreation areas and state boat launches. You can purchase a Recreation Passport when renewing your license plate registration through the Secretary of State or when getting a new plate. Get your Recreation Passport and tell your friends and family to do the same. It’s only $11 – a good deal for you that means a GREAT deal to future generations. Purchasing a Recreation Passport will help support our state parks and recreation areas and help preserve state forest campgrounds and trails, historic and cultural sites in state parks and parks in your own community.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state’s natural and cultural resources for current and future generations. For more information, go to www.michigan.gov/dnr.
